Don't Think Twice
About a year ago, I got a message asking if I would be ok with my jewelry being used in a movie. When I was told that it was a Mike Birbiglia movie, I said that he could have anything he wanted, I'm quite a fan. My response was probably a bit more enthusiastic than they were expecting.
I didn't want to get too excited, because I've done this sort of thing at previous jobs. I've signed a few release forms in my time and nothing has ever made the final cut.(Glee, why didn't you use that poster? Your art director was so nice!)
Then a few months later, I get an update. The movie had been filmed, my jewelry had been used. I sign some papers and wait some more.
When the trailer came out in the spring, I watched it over and over. There was a blink and you'll miss it scene where you can barely see Gillian Jacobs wearing a hairpin. I was so very excited. I watched it a million more times.
After months more of waiting, I finally got to see Don't Think Twice at Filmstreams last night. I spent the whole movie scanning all the accessories, looking for my fabric buttons.
I almost gave up hope, perhaps the scene had been cut. But then, near the end, there they were. It was one of the most exciting things to ever happen in the world of Rachel O's.
My name even made the credits! Rachel O's was right there on the screen, right above Daniel Radcliffe! Weird! Exciting!
Needless to say, I'm wearing my smile hairpins with a secret pride today. It may just be a teeny tiny piece of a movie, but to me it's one of the high points of Rachel O's.
